So, I just finished another series and would like to take a moment to reflect on the ones that I have seen most recently.
The first in this new session that I started was an anime called:
xxxHolic
It was basically an anime about this boy that could see spirits.
At first, I didn't think I would like it because I didn't think that I would be able to relate to it. I normally watch anime shows that I can relate to just because I can really get into it. I liked the comical approach this anime had and the underlining "lessons" that each episode had the main character learn.
The second: [C]- Control
At first, this was a strange anime to me. I'm not really into politics. This was a short series, but you have to watch it from beginning to end because each episode builds on the other. Basically, people are fighting to maintain, or to secure a better future for themselves. The more money you gain, the better your future will be. That is how I interpreted that series. I did have to do a little research on the characters and the background story just so I could make sure that I had a general idea of what was going on. But overall I think I got it.
The Third: X
This series was a bit longer. I didn't really enjoy it like I did the others because it was kind of predictable. You have the good and the evil. The good battles the evil etc. What I didn't expect was the ending. So, they did a good job of turning that around. The battles are exciting though. I like the different powers that they each possess. I do recommend watching this anime just for the battles. But if you want an intricate plot this one doesn't really offer one, although there are some interesting mini twists here and there.
The Favorite One So Far:
Witchblade
I really, really, really liked this series! It had a good plot. A lot of action and mostly women in power. I didn't really make any connections until about the fourth episode. Then I discovered that the "x-cons" are all men. The cloneblade barriers are all women. The witchblade holder is also a woman.
There are several ways that this series could be interpreted but ultimately I understood it as,
The x-cons were perverted men who wanted to rape women. By rape, I mean take their "power" (this power being virginity, affection, love etc). The witchblade and the cloneblades were created to keep women from giving away their power. That is why they fight. To defend themselves from men who want to exploit them and use them up.
This is a really good series and most definitely recommend it! Go watch it now!
