The Brooklyn Music Sound

His name is Shamel "Jean " Lyric. He's from Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He's been doing Music for four years now. At the Ages between 9-10 he wrote his very first song (A song he still has yet to record lol) but he didn't start taking his music seriously until six years later.

His top five DOA Artists (Nas, Q-Tip, Mos Def, Method Man Drake) are the people that motivated and inspired him to become the Lyricist he is today. Through listening to their creative flow it help him to understand and fall in love with Real Hip Hop. Also, two of his neighborhood brothers Michael "Deejay Traxx " Bonny and Traemayne "T.R.B "Brown encouraged him too. They saw something in him that he didn't see four years ago and from there he was inspired.

He started off as a DJ Assistant in middle school because he didn't feel like he would be great at rapping. Although his first song was about uniting the youth, stopping the violent bullying and fighting, he started to doubt his artistry. He felt like rapping wasn't his thing but he still loved music.
So he dropped the pen and picked up the DJ equipment. It wasn't til 2012 when he started rapping and writing again.

As of now he has written more than 50 songs but most are freestyles off industry beats and others are originals. There are more than 20 collaborations with indie artists that either make beats or rap.

He goes on to share that most of his supporters are music lovers. They actually listen to the lyrics in songs to see what messages they can hear and learn from. Most of his songs don't have curses, references to drugs nor violence so the type of audience he draws are those who listen to conscious rap.
Some great advice...
he was given by one of his mentors at a young age that has stuck with him even now is to: never become someone else to accomplish a dream or goal in life.
He tries to stay in the studio daily to work on his art whether it's writing songs or creating beats. He says being around the equipment in a studio or listening to the Artist in the booth beside him do their thing relaxes him and keeps him focused. He uses his environment to help him improve his life and his career.

In 5 years he sees himself dropping his 4th album, working on more music, living in a nice house in Brooklyn and helping other Artists in the next generation live their dreams and become great.
