His name is Lawrence
Lee Wallace. He was Born and raised in Chicago IL.
Accomplishments
He has completed
6 features,
4 shorts,
2 TV Pilots
And a abundance of commercials and music videos.
He
first began writing poetry in high school. Then later he went on to write plays.
A major influence in his life was one by the name of Dick Gregory. A veteran in his field who came to his
school and gave him notes on his writing. He once told Wallace that he had
"great potential" and not to give up.
The beginning of his career started with directing theater. His first play was The Colored Museum by
George C. Wolfe. He then moved into film. His first film was a
documentary called: The Black Light Project.
The challenges that arise as a Director are mostly about money. He goes on to explain that, "Chicago isn't really geared around the entertainment industry
and art there isn't taken seriously as a business, so it’s hard to
find donors and investors to help."
He describes his directing style as edgy and a bit over the top. He likes to surprise his audience by introducing new story lines in the middle of the main story to break up the monotony and get a different reaction.
The collaboration that would most bring value to his career would be with Quentin Tarantino. He enjoys his dynamic dialogue
and his shooting style. He believes they would make something really stylized
and fun.
His
favorite and most memorable completed project is entitled: If you Love me. It is his 3rd,
most fun and best received. He really felt that he had become a real filmmaker
when that movie came out.
