Dj King Klash: Next Level Mixes

DJ King Klash is from Ruff Raleigh, North Carolina! He owns his own mobile studio and also records dope videos as a videographer!

Great advice a friend gave him was to: “stop thinking so small minded by trying to put the city on and focus more on putting his state on.”

Background
His uncle is DJ Kraze. His uncle and father were born and raised in Bronx, New York during the birth of Hip Hop. His father used to tell him stories of how he and his brother Kraze used to DJ block parties with all the early Hip Hop stars.

As he (Dj Klash) was growing up watching BET and MTV he saw those stories were REALLY true. Also, his mom had a huge collection of tapes from multiple different genres of music, so he was pretty familiar with different genres of music at an early age.

She had everything from Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, to Tupac to, the Isley Brothers, the Ojay’s, Elton John, Madonna and plenty of R&B and oldies. But, Cash Money and No Limit is when he really started identifying with Hip Hop being from the south. That’s when he started writing his own rhymes at 13 years old.

DJ Career
He has always been influenced by music but he spent a lot of time nurturing other artists’ careers before he began Djing and producing himself in 2014.
He’s been Djing house parties for years but his first real performance came from being a tour DJ for a Hip Hop artist named Madison Jay from North Carolina. What he most remembers about it is that it was a great feeling and an honor because he (Madision) had a nice buzz and he didn’t really have to pull him in as a DJ because no one really knew him at the time.

He’s been produced by several local artists. He's DJed for Madison Jay, Zipz Street a.k.a. Perp Dakota, Marley Jesus, Tour Bus, TIME the Artist, Billz, P Mania, and BrassiousMonk.

But, his biggest supporters so far have been local artists especially Madison Jay, his Uncle DJ Kraze, the late great producer Hiram Glyphxxx and of course his girl friend.

Reflections and New Heights

His most challenging moment has been finding other people that take the music industry as serious as he does. Also meeting others that are willing to make the sacrifices that he made.

One thing he would change in his life? He wouldn’t have gone to prison for 8 years. But he’s not really the type to regret because he believes that everything happens for a reason and that at a certain point in his life everything will add up. He’s been putting out good energy for a very long time and he has faith that good energy will come back.

His goals for the future are that he wants to be rich. He wants to be financially stable. He wants to own his own studio, label etc in the next few years and with his determination and tenacity he can bring his vision to life!

The Efforts of a Rising Star

The best advice that he was given was: “Don’t stop no matter what from my AMAZING friend Joy!”
At thirteen years old Rashawn Leary from Poughkeepsie, NY an up and coming intricate lyricist wrote his first song, with big aspirations and looking to rise to the top quickly, he’s a force to consider. Don’t sleep, because he’s ready to take over!

The first time anyone ever heard his work was when he was with his family in the car. His gift for writing music is a natural one. His first performance was 5 years ago at a nightclub at Above and Beyond  in Raleigh NC.

He hasn’t written for any popular Artists yet, but if he could he would write for Sam Smith and John Legend. He likes the way their voices flow and sound. His favorite genre would be more of like a combination of R&B and pop so he calls it “BOP”

This young man is multi-faceted. He owns a business. He considers himself an international toast master.  He can rap, sing, model, act, writes comics and little books.

If he could change one thing about the music industry it would be the talent scouts who find some of the new talent. A lot of new music today literally has no meaning in his opinion and is done to promote the wrong things, but in his good humor he says “guess in reality to each their own!”
He believes that his Vocal range, Vocal tempo and his natural tenacity to accomplish projects are his strengths.

In the next five years he hopefully sees himself performing at more venues, traveling a lot more and also writing for amazing ARTISTS.

He’s in a line up for a major film that he and the executive director will be shooting in October and they are looking for actors and anyone who wants to lend a hand on the crew!

Tiera Deberry: Confidence Is Key

Tiera Deberry is from Wilson, North Carolina
Admin Assistant during the day, a CNA at night and a Model 24/7.

She inspired herself to start taking her modeling career seriously this year. Yet! she wishes she could say that she has been modeling for awhile. She's only been in one fashion show but that was enough to spark her passion for fashion and make her dedicated to establishing herself as a serious model.

She’s been wanting to model since she was a teenage, but she shares that she didn't feel she had the confidence. She didn’t feel like she would fit in, if she was pretty enough or that she would get accepted in the modeling entertainment world. The more mature she became the more confidence she built and now she understands that modeling is what she wants to do and she’s not stopping until she gets where she wants to be in this modeling industry.

Advice

If “you want to model for real make sure that you are dedicated. Don’t let one “No” detour you from your dream. Learn from all your criticism so it can build you to a great model..."
The ability to offer advice, self reflect and learn can go hand in hand. The modeling industry can be a peculiar place but she explains that she wouldn’t change anything about the modeling industry. She feels like every aspect of modeling is a growing process. As a model she DOES feel she needs to work on being more sociable with other models. She says sometimes her shyness gets the best of her. She can become a little stand offish if she doesn’t know a person and that’s one thing she needs to work on as a model, in her book.

Fun Facts & Other Creative Talents
  • If she could do a photoshoot with any Top Model in world she would choose to work with Tyra Banks. She has paved the way for black models all over the world with her runway, TV show, books and Guest Appearance on Talk Shows such as the: Steve Harvey Show.
  • The other creative talents she was given is her gift of dancing and writing Her writing came from when she was dealing with personal problems in life so she just wrote down all her feelings. It turned into poetry, music etc and a passion over time.

"Everybody is Not Made For This..."

Crysta Wicks is a Chicago native and the CEO of The Boss Wife Enterprises Inc. It is a multifaceted company consisting of real estate acquisitions, self development, apparel, and social networking events.

Her current publication "Everybody Is Not Made For This" was written as a self help book to empower women in every aspect of juggling life. She was inspired to put together a collaboration of her own personal experiences, trials, and life mastery. She created a book that was more than words but a tool that could be used to compose the best version of oneself in an easy to relate to guide. In writing her book she became the change and value that she wanted to see in the world.

Wise Advice
Decide on who you want to be and do what it takes to become her!

She currently has written three self help books, but only one is currently self published. Her current audience is of women that share some of the same titles as: wife, mother, or current and aspiring entrepreneur. In most cases women wear many modified hats which makes it easy to attract and maintain an audience of women.

As she developed her passion and expertise she fell in love with self development books. She believes that no matter what level in life people are at, they should always be teachable. One of her favorite quotes is: "When the student is ready the teacher appears." When I am ready to take things to the next level I seek out the self development genre and the teacher appears.

Her future goals are to with exceeding faith and hard work turn her masterpiece writing into a unforgettable box office movie hit that her audience will remember with great admiration and appreciation for her skills, talent and multi-faceted gifts.

"Hidden Artistic Compositions..."

Terrence Keith
IT Guy and Photographer from Newport News, Virginia.
"Hidden Artistic Compositions..."

He has two businesses, one for each of the hats he wears. The Black Tower IT Services, which he has dabbled in since 1997, and Dejanael Photowerx, formerly known as Dejanael Photography, which he started, in earnest, last year. The IT business grew out of him crashing his first home computer. He needed to get it back up and running before his wife got up the next day, and things kind of progressed after that. Dejanael started out of requests for portraits and wedding shoots, and it has progressed from there.

While he has only been shooting “professionally” for about 6½ years, and only shooting as a business for one, he has carried a camera with him pretty much everywhere since 1988. During that time it was film, and he loved it because there were so many things you had to be mindful of; unlike digital, you couldn’t delete and re-shoot. Oftentimes you wouldn’t even have a second chance, so you had to really know what you were doing before the shutter button was pressed.

His first full-blown “photo-shoot” was a boudoir session for a dear friend. He remembers that he was nervous because he wanted it to be perfect. He also remembers there was this one shot, that she wanted to do, and it just happened! One of the most amazing photographs he has ever taken. He still marvels at it from time to time.

He shares that Landscape Photography is his passion.
He loves finding ruins, or anything that is abandoned. He's really partial to looking at common everyday things as if they are hidden artistic compositions. He fell into Portrait Photography because of family and friends requesting portraits pretty often. Then he found Fashion Photography, which he has grown to love, by a total accident but he is really digging it right now.

In the world of photography he doesn't consider himself “gifted” at all. Honestly, he claims he is kinda so-so, but he loves what he does, and he loves how people feel about his work. He has never had any formal education, but he has no problem doing research, and asking questions. He has connected with so many amazing artists and photographers that have helped him improve his craft, that he can’t even begin to name them all!

There are only a few things that he considers “challenges” during shoots. The first one is MAKEUP. When it is done right, he can deal with almost anything else. When it’s wrong, well, he gets a headache. Sometimes, less really is more. The other peeve is posing. He doesn't mind if the model isn’t experienced, but if they consider themselves a pro but posing them is like "manipulating a burlap bag of rocks", then things aren’t going to go smoothly. Lastly, he finds bad attitudes a major creative turn-off. If they come in like they own the place and begin their conversation like he is their butler, the session is not going to go well, if at all. Photography is FUN, and for him, it’s going to stay that way!

There are so many people he would love to photograph, but if he could pick only one well-known person, today, it would be former President Obama. If for nothing else, he thinks that conversation would be amazing, even if they did NOT say a word about politics. He has a lot of respect for former President Obama as a person, just watching his interactions with people and with kids. He’s got what he calls “The Grandpa Gene” and he reminds Terrence of his father-in-law in that respect. The photographs would be a treasure to him, but that conversation? Priceless.

He has done a lot of shoots in various places but if he could do a photo-shoot anywhere in the world it would definitely be Tuscany. He relates that the reason is because he and his wife watched “Under the Tuscan Sun” and fell in love with the region. He's a hardcore suburbanite, but he loves the rustic appeal of that entire region. It’s as if time just kind of… stopped there. It’s romantic.

The projects or events that are emerging is the anticipated collaboration with he and a fellow photographer. They are working on a coffee table book, which has him super excited. He is also going to be revamping some work he did for the anniversary of Nat Turner’s Insurrection. That project was on display in Norfolk a couple of years ago, but this time it’s going to be more exciting, and he is going to dig into the history, and the artistry of the project a lot more.

When asked if he had any other gifts or talents he laughs saying how he used to be a pretty decent singer, and a pretty good saxophonist too. He smiles saying that he should have been a musician, but life had other plans.

His Advice To Up and Coming Photographers
"Don’t forget that photography is about expression. Don’t get too wrapped up in being super-technical, unless that’s your thing. Knowledge of your craft is good, but being able to evoke a feeling in your audience is even better. Focus on pictures that put the viewer IN the moment, pull them into the story."

The Ambassador of R&B: Mr. Chenier

What are your thoughts on the music industry today?
"I want to bring the love songs...Back to the radio!!!"
I think that answers that question. SMILE!!

Background:

His name is Chenier Wilson. He goes by Mr. Chenier the Ambassador of R&B. He was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens but now resides in Raleigh, NC. He considers himself the Ambassador of R&B because he feels that he represents R&B to the fullest from music, to videos, to live performances. He represents the Grown & Sexy Sound!

He was about five years old when he first discovered that he had a gift for singing. In his very young years he us to watch a show that used to come on TV called the Ed Sullivan show. They were showing a Jackson 5 performance and from that point he started learning their songs and he thought he was Michael Jackson, he even sounded like him...till puberty hit.. LOL! He started singing seriously publicly in his high school choir, high school gospel choir, College choir, College gospel choir and also his home church choir.

He shares a story about his first stage performance recalling this event: "My first stage performance I had to be about ten years old. I was bragging about how I can do this, and do that on stage to my cousins, and when it was my turn to perform on stage at the talent show, I froze. Classic stage-fright!! So I did what most kids would do in that situation. I ran off the stage and into my mothers arms...Every now and then when I get with my family, my cousins always say..."Remember your first talent show?"

He doesn't just sing, but he also reads and writes music too. He does it all. He learned in school the art of reading music and writing came natural for him because he used to want to be a rapper at one time when LL COOL J came out. We're from the same home Boro of Queens. So rhyming was somewhat easy.
