Introducing MHolloway Photography

Marshall Holloway Jr. is from Dudley, NC but has resided in Durham, NC for the last 20 years.

  • If he could do a shoot for a celebrity it would be Rihanna!
  • If he could shoot anywhere in the world it would be Africa because of the scenery and the culture!!

Advice
To any up and coming Photographers, he offers: "study your craft every day and invest all that you can in order to get it to prosper and of course love what you do."

He started his company after receiving his first DSLR (a nice camera) as a gift, and from there he knew that photography was his passion! The name of his company is MHolloway Photography. This name emerged in 2012 but he had little success at first, so he let it go. Yet, the fire still burned inside of him to capture images. So, from there he created a plan involving investments, skilled developments, reinvented himself, and gave it another shot.

He’s been sharing his creative eye for photography for approximately 8 years. His first photo-shoot experience was a family session at Duke Gardens. What he remembers most is how much he didn't know about how to operate his camera effectively (-he laughs at the memory-).

The style of photography that most interests him are dramatic, dramatic, and more dramatic images! He loves shooting late evening/night and in low light. The combination of both brings so much life to his photos!

The Photo Life
The most beneficial class that he has taken is with the highly skilled and talented Photographer and Videographer by the name of Chris Cheek. But, he also spent hours upon hours of watching tutorials and reading books at the library about photography.

Of course, with any passion, there can be challenges and he finds that he mostly has trouble getting models to manifest the most flattering facial expressions. Sometimes the weather, distractions and sometimes the frames. But overall he find a way to overcome any obstacles.

Multi-talented Creez & IAM HERO TOUR

They call him HERO. He is a man of many hats. An Entrepreneur, Entertainer, and soon to be Humanitarian from the big city of Long Beach, CA. He considers himself as both an Artist and Lyricist. As an Artist some days he might want to make a lyrical song, then other days he might make a song that is about his flow or his way with words.

The Kryptonite Ep is the name of his current project soon to be released. The concept of the project is about all the things in his life that could be a Kryptonite to him like Love, Family, Friends, the neighborhood he grew up in. The process of creating this project was fun. He has features like Reality Jones, Taio Cruz, Ryan Anthony, Kevin Writer and Producers like Rick Roc, Drumma Boy, King Dave, and Reo who helped with the EP process.

The Best Advice He has received came from Quincy Jones, in a meeting. He was told: "To Have a Detailed Vision, Don't Just Tell GOD 'I just want to be happy, you got to know what happiness is to you!" Those words as well as growing up in Long Beach inspired him to make his current music.

During his childhood he remembers seeing Nate Dogg as a kid in his Auntie Kims' living room with the bandanna on just like the in videos. So, people like Snoop Dogg and Warren G are like family to him. He was the little kid right there watching them shoot videos!

He shares that out of all the songs he wrote, he says his favorite is the song he did with Kehlani called: Flight 420. Its crazy and it just feels like he's on a plane ride! Since he started music he would say he has done over 200 shows, maybe more! The most epic time he ever had on stage was when he was on the Independent Grind Tour with his band and Tech N9ne came out on their set with a pitcher of his signature drink KC TEA and everybody went crazy!!

If he could do a song with anybody, he would choose Kendrick Lamar because he likes to touch on the type of topics he likes to rap about and he is also a very conscience person. He relates that what makes him different as an Artist is the thrill of everything that a new rapper wants to do like get a chain or buy his momma a car. He was able to do that at a early age. So his integrity and movement are different.

The future is extremely bright for this talented Artist, He his currently working on a new music project and a new clothing brand soon to launch on www.IamHeroTour.com. Along with creating more music he is looking to lock in more sponsors for his IAM HERO TOUR company. He also wants to add some more skateboard competitions in Long Beach, Compton, Venice, Hollywood (ect) for the summer of 2017.

Raise Your Hand If You Want to Eat!

When I graduated from a four year private college, I thought that I was well on my way to living the "American Dream." I spent much of my time during high school prepping for the ACTS, SATS, keeping my grades up and staying up countless hours writing competitive essays with the hope of winning scholarship money! Yet, when I finally got to college my eyes grew wide with anticipation for the future! I was thrilled. I MADE IT! I am in COLLEGE. I had my nose up to the world, as if to say "LOOK AT ME! I'm getting my four year degree and I'm going to be SOMEBODY!"

What I discovered during those four years was that I was really great at following rules, writing essays and meeting deadlines. I learned how to communicate in a variety of social situations from dating to depression. There was no topic off limits except how to think for myself. How to believe in myself that I could do and be anything.

When I got out into the real world it took almost two years to find a solid job and even when I finally found one it was only a temp to hire position. (Oh, let's not forget the whack in the skull with the college debit lol) The system set me up to fail. I had that oh, so grand "piece of paper" but, then I lacked experience. Also, I graduated in a class when the economy was unstable and there weren't that many jobs. This didn't seem to bother many of my college friends because they graduated returning home to their childhood bedroom, with all their stuff still in tack and with at least one working parent/guardian who could help them in life when they needed it.

I returned "home" to more of my stuff being pushed in storage and sleeping on a couch, because there was no room made for me. I guess they thought that I would graduate, immediately get a full time, great paying job and get my own place. Unfortunately that didn't happen and I instantly felt the weight of burden grip my shoulders; "how on earth am I suppose to make it out in the world? I spent four years getting a piece of paper that I can't even use because I don't have any experience..." So, in other words..having a "degree" looks great on paper but not in an interview when they ask you "How much experience do you have in this field?"

How can you gain experience in any field, if you are never given a chance?

Eh, I don't use the fact that I don't have any parents as a crutch not give my absolute best, but I do use it to remind people that having parental support should be seen as blessing, not an expectation. I will also say, bless my mothers' heart (may her soul rest in peace) for working so hard to put money aside to see her baby attend college. Maybe that was her dying wish, and maybe with receiving that "piece of paper" I was able to put a smile on her face as she watched me walk across the stage from Heaven. I don't really know but...

My advice to anyone currently in school is to get as much experience in your field as possible. If you have to volunteer, do an internship (etc) just do whatever it takes to gain that experience. I heavily stress that because we are entering into a time where pretty soon even the Bachelors degree will have lost it's luster, and jobs will require you to know more, have more experience, work harder and longer hours but still for the same or less pay. Most Colleges are created to teach you to follow directions, but not how be a BOSS, A LEADER, A SUPERVISOR, A MANAGER nor how to guide someone else in those directions.

I know people who never attended college, making six figures because they started their own businesses. They believed in themselves, had the support of family and friends long enough to help them bring their vision to life and guess what?

They are some of the most creative and talented individuals that I know. I'm not saying that college is bad. I love to learn, so of course those who are book smart would most likely be expected to do well in that realm. But what I am saying, is that there are other options. You can still be just as successful with or without that "piece of paper."

Changes, Making Moves, Blessings

I haven't had much time to write. I, honestly have been so busy getting my life in order. If I'm not at work (yes, I finally got that new job that I was praying for!) then I'm at rehearsal with the band or writing music, modeling or studying my lines for the musical that I'm in

God has opened doors big time for me and I'm truly grateful and thankful. I want to thank all the people that were in my corner and who are still there. I'm not completely out of the woods just yet. I still have more preparing to do.

Sometimes right before we are about to give up, and throw in the towel God is like: "wait, before you do that, let me show you what I can do."

How did I get my new job? The job that I really wanted? By being diligent in prayer, having a bold faith and being consistent in putting my resume out there. I did not even have to have a formal interview. She, my supervisor, told me that as soon as she heard that I needed a job she hired me right on the spot!

No trial period. No run around. The job was already  mine as soon as she heard I needed one.

If that isn't Gods' favor then I don't know what it is!!!!!!

See, I finally got tired of being tired.
I finally got tired of watching other people receive their blessings and wondering where mine was. Sometimes our blessings don't come to us because there is someone or something stand in the way and or we haven't made up our minds that we are ready to receive them yet.

SO, I finally made up my mind that I want and will have better for myself.

I am determined to live a peaceful and financially stable life.
I am determined to be a successful supermodel, songstress, business woman, wife and mother (in the future lol). I am determined to have the life that I want and nothing and no one will stop me nor stand in my way.
