Born and raised in Henderson, NC.

She had a religious upbringing. Her father was a pastor for most of her life.

She is the middle child and has 2 sisters whom she loves very much!

She considers herself to be an entertainer. She’s a multifaceted and versatile Artist. She raps, along with writing her own music and she also loves to dance. She hasn’t had any collaborations with any artists on her most recent projects yet, but she’s looking to do a few very soon!

Her latest project is her EP, entitled “Fallen Angel”. In creating this EP, she wanted to show versatility and to show people that they can’t really put her in a box. There is a compilation of genres on that project, including hip-hop, pop, and rock. 

She came up with the title for the project “Fallen Angel”, because it relates to her spreading her wings to follow her passion of music, rather than succumbing to what other people believe she should do or be. 

In High School and College she wrote poetry. She didn’t start writing music until maybe about 3 years ago. There wasn’t anyone in particular that inspired her to start making music. It was just an idea and passion that she decided take a leap of faith with! 

One of her favorite songs that she has written is called: “Fallen Angel/ Abyss.” It’s one of the few songs where she gets a little personal. On top of that she loves the switch-up in that song. 

She’s had many performances but the one that she remembers the most is the Gemynii’s “HERstory” event (11/27/2019) at Pinhook in Durham. The energy and love from the audience was amazing! She didn’t know that so many people knew the words to her songs, so she was like wow! She also met a lot of cool people that night, and of course she had a great time!

When asked what makes her stand out from other Artists she responds with grace: "I’m humble and true to myself. I don’t try to follow trends or do shit for “clout”. I don’t care about fame. What I care about is building a brand by unapologetically being myself." 

She continues to explain, "It’s easy for people to stray away from their authentic selves. Some people die without ever really living, as paradoxical as that sounds. I admit that I was on that path, until I did some soul-searching. Since I grew up sheltered in a religious household it caused me to lose my identity, and I spent many years being and feeling trapped. I was mentally and emotionally exhausted." 

She dropped out of grad school to pursue music (What a bold leap of faith; inspiring!) She wanted to step out of the shadows and do something for herself, for a change. She was fed up with trying to live up to a standard of what other people wanted her to be. She just wanted to be her! 

She continues to share with, "There is only one me. There’s no one else like me. Hate me or love me. You choose. I don’t want my fans to love me just because they think my music is dope. I want my fans to love me for who I am, because I’M dope. I’m bold, unfiltered, and strong. I’m taking my power back through music. I’m ready to share more of myself with the world!" 

There are multiple opportunities around the corner even with the the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the music endeavors have been put on hold until further notice. Though she had a few shows cancelled/ postponed, she had a virtual live show streamed via Facebook and Instagram back in March. I plan on having another virtual show, hopefully by August. I’m also going to stream the video release for my song “Abyss”, sometime in July. So, y’all be on the lookout for that! 

She is currently working on her next EP. She haven’t decided on a name for it just yet. Her music video for “Abyss” is coming to you guys really soon! She's super excited to drop this one!

NCC Records: Promotes Indy Artists

 

James “Mistajay” Genwright II majored in Business administration. But he wasn’t sure which direction to take his degree in but somehow his heart was strongly interested in: the Music.  

In the creation of making dreams come true, he and his team went through several different incarnations and mangers to gain control over their direction in music as a group. So his Inspiration to start NCC Records: North Carolina Commissioned Records was born from that desire but that was just the beginning. Okay so, what is NCC Records? It is a record and entertainment label that provides music services, writing features, sponsorship, promotion and distribution. The company is really aimed at promoting the success of their communities by sponsoring Indy Artists in music and film projects.

 

As the CEO of a very successful and ever growing company the ability to lead in certain situations is a major key component. It requires you to be a good listener willing to learn as well as intelligently delegate and remain inquisitive while staying on top of the newest trends in the industry. As we know life wouldn’t be as exciting without a couple challenges. But they are met with diligence and professionalism. There are times when decisions have to be made quickly, from deciding whether to keep with the newest sound or go in a different direction to finding who to work and network with that will be just as passionate about getting to the next level as you.

There are a variety of ways to create success and one of the things that this CEO would like to see more of is content on the company website that reflects a diverse range of entertainment endeavors. Which he hopes will lead to eventually working with heavy hitters like the multi-faceted Ice Cube and Kathy Hughes who started in radio with music and turned her vision into an entertainment empire.

A future goal that she sees for her financial literacy business is to help one thousand new clients gain financial freedom by the end of 2018.

If she could work with any top name in the entertainment industry she would choose to work with Oprah because she views her as the most successful woman of all time!

Her name is Briana Barksdale, but she is known in the entertainment industry as First Ladii Briana B. She is originally from Greensboro, NC. But, she lived in Virginia for two years before relocating back to North Carolina to the states Capital: Raleigh, NC.

She attend several schools (A&T, Columbia School of Broadcasting and is currently studying Entertainment Business at the Los Angelo’s Film School) and during her time at the previous schools she majored in business, media and broadcast. It has always been her passion to help others achieve their goals or to motivate them to be “One Day closer to their Dreams”. She very blessed to be working every day in her field of work and changing the financial lives of all people daily!

Her mother inspired her to start her own company. In growing up her mother was an entrepreneur and she always had several side hustles. Her daughter studied her tactics, and it inspired her to want to grow and achieve all that she could during her life. In learning from her mother she has ventured into several entrepreneur businesses, maintains an established Credit Consulting franchise, and specializes in Credit Restoration and Financial Literacy. She also owns a multi production and PR business known as: First Ladii Productions.

Life with The Company 

As a CEO, the qualities she feel are most valuable are: leadership, tenacity, perseverance, and also confidence.

Her credit restoration franchise offers services that mentor in the field and financial literacy services to help repair and retain all things financially related.

The biggest challenge she had to overcome when starting her business was the ability to overcome after failure and/or denial. In her position she had to juggle so many companies and tasks are sometimes difficult but in situations of that nature you have to reorganize your priorities.

Success is always around the corner! The contribution she made to her community through her success is of great importance. She was recently recognized by her partner company in reaching milestones in her credit literacy program. She also hosted a red carpet event with her production company that sponsors individuals with epilepsy.

The CEO Boss Ladies that she admires are Issa Rae, and Beyonce. She admires Beyonce because she has been consistent in her business ventures. She admires Issa Rae because she created a similar platform as her and her success is something that she models.

Are there any other creative talents that you have, that your audience doesn’t know about?

Barksdale shares that she has plenty of talents.  One of which is being a mother. She’s a mother of a two year old lol. In addition, she writes and produces a radio show as well as a talk show called: Goal Diggers. The show features and highlights individuals successfully chasing their dreams.

Anita Nicole Brown- Inspiring the Masses

Anita Nicole Brown

Anita Nicole Brown is from Chicago IL! She is making headlines and positively impacting her community! In growing up she wrote a lot of poetry. It wasn’t until she was in college that she entertained the idea of writing short stories. She hopes to one day get her short stories published. In her time of writing she had many poems published in her school newspapers and she was asked to read her poems at different high school and college events.

When it comes to her work and projects she has a diverse audience. She is mostly an actress with a background in marketing and fashion. But the other thing that others may or may not know is that, she is also a Type One Diabetic. So in as many films as she can she brings awareness to show other T1Ds’ that they can do anything they wish. They are her main audience! Yet, in this industry, she finds that she runs across too many producers and even directors who wish to hide anything related with her being a Type One Diabetic so it’s a “hard line to walk sometimes” she adds.

So far in her productive and influential time as an actress, she has completed about 30-40 short and feature films! As a producer The Gag Date will be her third! But hands down her favorite and most memorable film she completed is entitled: Crisis Function! That was a film in which the writer/director wrote the lead character (who she played) as a Type One Diabetic! Furthermore; it was an action film with lots of fight choreography and a few stunts! So, for her to be able to do that project with her insulin pump and her being a Type One Diabetic being used as part of the storyline made her so proud and she still is very proud of that film and the strength it helped to give the Type One Diabetic community!

She has a few upcoming projects that she is working on and ones that everyone should be on the lookout for such as: Crisis Function: Awakening which is scheduled to come out this year and she plays the female lead! The other the Wages of Sin: Special Tactics is also scheduled to be released this year as well and again she plays the female lead! Then follows is: Scar Lake is scheduled to finish with filming around late summer and she plays one of the supporting female characters! Then the 12 Angry Women which is also scheduled to finish with filming around late spring! And yes she does play one of the 12 angry women!! And, of course, The Gag Date is set to finish filming by the end of June 2018 (at the latest!) Then once she and her team wrap up they will have a better idea of when it will be released!

A Goal to Achieve

If she could work with any major director?!?!?!?! Well she would have to say Chad Stahelski because she’s an action film kind of girl and his work with Keanu on the John Wick movies makes her wish she could do just ONE action film with him!

Maria Brenda: From Modeling toTV.

Modeled in her early 20’s. At 5’4” she discovered that she is actually really good at modeling. she just wished that she was a little taller to be considered in the runway division.

Her most memorable fashion show was the Paul Mitchell Hair Show. During that time because of her look she was selected to do the runway show even though she wasn’t tall enough for it. That was the first time they had a shorter model doing the runway. They had to hem the outfit. But, the best part was the man himself did her hairstyle. It was an honor to her. 

She started acting when she was a little girl. She was in theater and drama in high school. She did her modeling and acting in her early 20’s but mostly modeling then she decided to have a family and from there she focused on her family and stopped acting for a while.

About 5 years ago, she started pursuing her acting again. She took some acting classes to refresh her skills. She was lucky enough to get some acting gigs to build her resume. The major role she played was as the Asian boss (Shanghi) for the series, “NO Chiraq”  on INTV. She is also the voice of the network.

In playing that part she became inspired and she started Zatori Productions and team up with some talented and creative partners. This is a new venture for her and she is ready for the challenges that come with it. So, what motivated her to start the company was for the love of the industry.  They are a media production company specializing in Film, TV, Web, Commercial, Industrial, Sports, and Special Events. She feels lucky to have such talented and creative partners.

The biggest challenge for her in the industry is that, “people judge you for your look  and what you put on social media and think that’s who you are as a person. They don’t know who you are in real life.” She has learned overtime to ignore it. It doesn’t do her any good.

Advice She Would GIVE 

to those individuals starting their own company is “to do your research first.” Ask yourself “What’s your goal in opening this business? Is  this something that you wanted to do? Is this a long term business? Is this profitable? She believes that if someone wants to open a business, that they should make sure that they will see themself being there for the longest haul. There is a lot of things to do in opening your own company. Research, research, research is the key.

I have a very supportive family. They think it’s cool that I’m following my passion and my dreams. They are my biggest fan.

Her biggest venture is the TV series is she working on is called “The Unlimited Lives of Gwen Salden” it is a story of a woman that suddenly finds herself time traveling in her sleep and living different lives in different realities. She has to figure out who she is and why certain things are happening to her.  The character has to figure out if everything she is going through: Is real or if she is just insane? Ms. Brenda loves sci-fi so she asked her talented write and good friend which is now one of the business partners’, to write her a sci-fi series.  They just got done filming the trailer for the investors. Her plan for the series is to get some funding for the pilot and build name recognition, then she will present it to reputable TV networks, nationally and or internationally.  “The Unlimited Lives of Gwen Salden” will appeal to both young and adult audiences. Fans of sci-fi, horror, suspense, comedy, drama, action will enjoy the series.

He considers himself to have elements of an MC and Lyricist but if he had to say which one he fit best he'd say he's an MC. His current album is called Byrdshyt. You should check it out! 

Before, he took a five year hiatus from making music he was in a creative space. He wanted to make a really personal project that spoke to how he felt about certain situations going on in his own life. Since he started back making music that was the first time he has been back in that creative space. He writes his own music and has collaborated with members such as T Birdz as well as XII V and Swagg Dinero. They lent their songs to him to be featured on this project. 

Best Advice Given

"Whether you think you can do it or you think you can't do it... You're right..."  

His inspiration for his creativity came from Artists he heard growing up. This would be mainly cash money, No Limit and Busta Rhymes. His favorite song off of his current album Bird Shyt is called: Aamiraloyal. He says it's basically him talking to his kids and trying to explain to them his life experiences in their early lives. He likes how he delivered that song. It sounds infectious!

If he could perform with any popular Artist in the industry today it would be with an Artists known as: ASAP Ferg. He says that he likes to go off the top freestyle and so does he, so they might be able to have a live session on stage. He thinks that would be dope. 

He stands out from other Artists because he says he can't be boxed into one style. You never know how a song, verse or project by him will sound. He says so many artists become predictable after you've heard a few verses. But he's different in that he keeps it fresh.
